No you're not mister. Seize the day, remember? Retirement in not an option. If Quake Champions turns out to be the gem I hope it is I will be spending many a night spanking any Overwatch / Counter Strike/ Battlefield bitches dumb enough to think they can hang with fast paced old school arena style shooters. I suspect you will be there too... or is a park bench and tossing bread to pigeons how you're going out?

NO ! *emabarassed now*

I hadn't seen Quake Champions, looks promising. Maybe I will continue on, plus it will be a good excuse to
upgrade my current rig Or at least overclock the bitch (i5-2500).

UT4 is coming out at some point as well. Development has been slow, but the pre-alpha is still fun to play with friends.

I always wonder what kind of complete douchebag you have to be in real life if you can't even act decently in a game where after all nothing is on the line.
Wow, this thread has gotten off topic, so here we go, back on track...

Sorry for offending anyone for coming off as trying to be "l33t" and I really didn't know that was a thing until I read it here either... I'm not an avid gamer outside UT. I just try to be the best I can at whatever I do and I like to win, in this game and in real life, and I've done pretty well there too. And if I didn't give a crap about being part of this community, I wouldn't bother posting or reading anything here on the forums.

elc, not sure when I pissed in your wheaties, but sorry, I think your premise about what constitutes a skilled player is off to start with. A skilled player in onslaught, to me, is one that links/destroys nodes, heals vehicles, gives rides, has a decent sense of how to read the map and coordinates with his team. When it comes to onslaught I don't consider skill as being good at deathmatch or spamming with the mino. And I think some of you missed my point when noting in particular the stats about rates of node construction/destruction. I've never been in it to get as many points as I can, I'm in it to win, just my nature. I really don't care where I end up on the scoreboard as long as my team actually works as a team and tries its best to win.

My point was that I'm often toward the top of the scoreboard exactly because I do the things you mentioned... and I go to nodes, very aggressively. High scores are often the byproduct of players being aggressive on nodes. Of course, being good at killing helps, but killing in onslaught is typically different than in deathmatch... it often means being tactical with the vehicles, and many players are not, i.e. flying a hammerhead straight at a mino, or driving the mino on a suicide run right into a locked node. I coordinate with, advise and listen to other like-minded players via voice chat constantly on where our team needs to push, I don't just play my own agenda like so many players seem to do. Those are the ones I was expressing my frustration over.

And I really don't think Lagzilla is a weak player, his skill has improved quite a bit in the last 6-12 months, although his demeanor has not. I was just saying that to get under his skin, well, because he's just a hypocritical chode who attacks me for doing the very things he does himself, like chastising douchey players that don't do the things mentioned that I think makes a "skilled player."

l33t urban dictionary definition:

As the Internet was coming into its own, during the early 1980s, hackers that didn't want their websites, newsgroups, etc, to be picked up in a simple keyword search began using numbers to replace certain letters (mostly vowels) such as A = 4 or E = 3.

At this point, l33t speak was only known to a select few and only used when necessary. However, in 1994, id Software began to add Internet connectivity to Doom and Doom II, leading to a revolution in PC gaming and also to the rise of l33t speak.

As with any type of competition, 'smack' talk became prevalent in online gaming. Phrases such as 'I am elite' became common place, and somewhere down the line l33t speak crept in, reforming the phrase into '1 4m 3l1t3' in order to demonstrate that the speaker was a hacker and someone to be feared. It was further exaggerated by purposeful bad spelling and eventually wound up as something like this, '1 4m 3l33t!' and simplified to, '1 4m 133t'. Hence the name 'l33t speak'.

How old are you? l33t is like the original meme, before "meme" was a term. Back when we had AOL free trial discs. Back when I used to play Star Wars: Dark Forces

Interesting thread. Not really sure how to contribute. Random thoughts:

Strange little community here. Super fun to play, but yeah it can be frustrating. Sometimes it feels like tons of people hate it but we'd all be super bummed if it went away.

Interesting to me how well some of you seem to know other player's dynamics. I feel like I have a decent idea of how most of you play but man those are some specifics! Makes me wonder what you guys think of me (decent enough player, hogs the ion tank, spams text box too much).

I agree the day-after-day negativity gets old. I appreciate your efforts Enyo and have definitely noticed you holding back on the insults (mostly because few are directed at me anymore).

This is a great server and one of the last "games" I play except for occasionally plugging in the SNES and geeking out for an evening on old games.

I have been playing in the DW: Monster Evolution server the last couple weeks quite a bit and I do notice how the folks in that server are MUCH more supportive, welcoming and helpful toward each other. Made me wonder if this server has sort of been a little bit of bad water I didn't even realize. A little more attitude like that I think can go a long ways.

I try to stay positive on the server whenever I can, sometimes it's tough, but I think to me the server is almost as much of a hang as it is a game.

Well, I DL'ed the game, went through the training, selected PLAY A MATCH and immediately started scratching my head. Where are all the peeps at?

Carpe, I'm already working on new clan names for Quake. So far I've narrowed it down to either "The Metamucil Militia" or "Cialis Squad".

Anyone here excited about Titanfall 2. I'm picking up a copy. Thought about Battlefield 1 but I prefer the faster pace and ability to go vertical.

I know he says bad and not sad but every time I see this thread title I want to start singing "Going down the road...". It's been stuck in my head for days.

It's pretty dead at this point. A lot of pissed off people are waiting it out. It will get better. We had a fun night with a few of us playing and using Lag's TS channel. I'm sure we'll have more. Freon is on hold. When that comes back I'll be playing there a lot more.
