Default [Turret] Eradicator

As mentioned in the ideas thread, once I got the artillery working as gunner turret of a vehicle, I would be able to port the Eradicator turret from UT3. Well, I got it to work.
Aiming is a mix of UT3 and UT2004 and not perfect yet. Basically I've replaced the input part with an automatic aim adjust to move the predicted target location towards the location you look at.

Bot support is really basic - they know they should kill you when you are inside, but they don't seem to use the Eradicator themselves.

I'll update the Eradicator aiming and AI code at some point to get it closer to UT3 style.

I guess this is done because it doesn't need a GUI.

Anyway, testing it now. Let's see if you need a UT3 mesh or if you already use it.

Ok, here a picture of it ingame, nice.




However, I can't rotate the camera around the deployed beacon, it's always locked in a side view of the camera and thus it's impossible to see the reticle.
Log is clean, though. (Except for an array index out of bounds in one of my Actors -.-)

Can anyone else confirm that bug? I didn't actually change the look code (except for the offset default value), so if you're having that problem, it might as well happen with the standard SPMA.

If someone wants to test it:
Just open a random ONS map in UnrealEd, open Wormbo's .u file in the Actor Class Browser, locate the Actor under Actor -> Pawn -> Vehicle -> ONSWeaponPawn -> ONSStationaryWeaponPawn -> Eradicator.
Then right-click somewhere in the map, choose "Add Eradicator". Playtest the map.

I was able to rotate the camera around the beacon to aim at objects in the rear... it this is what you mean...

However, i did notice that when i rotate the cannon to the right, the camera will pan up and i have to look down to level out the aiming.

you will notice, i tested it on a close quarters map... reason unknown. i didnt have time to try it out again on an open map... maybe ill have time tomorrow.

i do like it, but i think the skin should look a little more UT'ish. i don't know if you're happy with it as is, but it just seems a bit too much like "call of duty."

Well, mine locked in in a side view. No chance looking downward at a reticle. Will try it in another map again then.

I think UT2004's pitch limiting code has serious problems with the Eradicator turret actually being slightly tilted. Also there seems to be some weirdness in the view calculation code of the UT2004 SPMA camera related to 1st/3rd person view mode.

Works fine for my Fox. Although some other stuff like uploading images with vBB 4 does not work with it.

Whenever I go to click the zoom button, it just punts me back to their main page

Been using Imgur lately, lot smoother and less bs

Eh, could be, I do have AdBlock running. Also done some other tweaks over the months that may have disabled or broken something on their site
Still, I like Imgur better. Faster and cleaner

Major update, sort-of. (see first post for download)
Version 2 of the Eradicator now implements the same control and AI logic as the Perses artillery turrets. The WVArtillerySupport package for improved target acquiring AI is shared between the Eradicator and Perses. I obviously can't provide a mutator for putting the Eradicator into existing maps, so here's a modified Torlan 32p version that replaces the turrets at the corner nodes with the Eradicator. The map obviously isn't meant for serious play, as the Eradicator placement makes comebacks almost impossible - each of them can attack their neighboring nodes and the only safe place is in the core base.

Apparently the Eradicator download was missing a few effects, causing a few log warnings. This should be fixed now.

What does this do? How is it different from a SPMA? Is it on any maps?

It is a turret that fires SPMA shells, more or less.

I have not seen it on a map yet, but have plans to give it a try.
