Would you donate ?

At this point we don't know where the donations go....if someone knows otherwise chime in

The paypal donations go to an account Qettoe owns. I have no idea if he passes on any of that money to analog but he might send it all to him. Qettoe hosts the forums but analog hosts the server. I believe that analog also invested quite a bit of money into new hardware a few years back (probably more years back than I'm remembering) so he really should be getting the donations even though I think he might be hosting the server for free from his work. I'm not sure on that though so don't take that as fact. I would hate to say he's hosting for free if he's actually been paying for hosting in recent years but do you really think he's been shelling out money each month to keep the server going? I doubt it but also I wouldn't doubt that analog has put a lot more of his own money into the server over the years than he has received from donations.


Anyway. You guys should really start your own server and maybe a new forum also. I would truly hate to see the death of Omni but I think it would be best for the players to have a fresh server with no admin access issues. There's been plenty of people pledging support for a new server. Someone just needs to get it done. I know it's a lot of work and responsibility, and there's always the risk of donations not covering cost but it can always be a month to month plan to start. Plus it has to be owned by just one person and who should that person be? Lots to consider. Maybe start a fresh thread for just hashing out the idea of starting a new server. This thread doesn't seem to be getting any actual results.

Yeah. It doesn't have to shut down though. My thinking is more that a new server probably shouldn't use the Omni name so maybe a new forum would be appropriate but that's definitely not necessary. Qettoe was here just yesterday. He still checks in so as long as he sees activity I'm guessing he'll keep the forums up and running but it's not free to host a website so idk.

Last I checked, our 20 player freon server and 20 slot teamspeak server costs roughly $250 a year. NFO chicago.

That's a good question. I think it would be nice to keep the name but I would for sure ask Qettoe about that. I don't think it would be cool to use the Omni name and )o( tag without his blessing.

That's right. I've been trying to raise him for months now, no response. That's scary as it means the game server could *poof* at anytime.

You don't have to study vehicles that long! it just takes a few games to get the hang of it. And players tend to pick one or two vehicles that they specialize at, like Mclovin in the megabadger or nautikal in the railtank. you should definitely play sometime, I think you'd be surprised

We also play retro maps sometimes, like torlan and we even played primeval the other day. Olo keeps voting for ahebban and killing the server pop like an idiot, but we do that too. And we've been playing masterbath / captain gordon a lot too
