Default 2007 should have an assault/Domination-invasion type mode

If epic games come on here, yall should have a game mode where legions of red against a legion of blue or against monsters/A.I battling each other for some goal. No vehicals would be involed and when the game starts, the opposing sides will have enough distance from each other so that when they both gain momentum they will collide and just tear each other apart kinda like lord of the rings type but with all the UT2007 in it.

What do yall think?

Well sure, you're going to get lag when you take a dual opteron server, and run 6 servers on it. It will just require true dedicated servers. Kinda like 32 person ONS servers. Those take more CPU than AS does from my knowledge.

Assuming they've done some major optimization to the netcode, no.

This game is ancient, and brand new hardware still lags with 32 players. That leads me to believe that it's a coding issue, and probably one they can't fix without an engine overhaul (otherwise it probably would have been by now), so... theoretically speaking, if they didn't do some lazy coding this time around, 64 should work..

BF2 managed it pretty well, I don't see why UT2007 should have a big problem, except maybe graphically overloading systems.

??? Some of my favorite AS maps (ChocolateFactory) don't have vehicles. You don't need vehicles
for an assault indoors or in very urban terrain. Ground-pounder maps can be just as fun as those with
the vehicles.

(Now, Onslaught without the vehicles probably wouldn't be very much fun...)

hmm, no vehicles, i wonder how fortress-jmp will go if theres no tank for attackers, thats IF the owner converts it and upgrades it up to date with the new gametype

AS is now changed.

It is now a massive affair, with nodes that you can capture like Onslaught. These nodes increase your vehicle production rate (respawn), your weapons, additional respawn points, and various objectives to capture. Think of it like Onslaught, Assault, and the landscape is constantly changing due to node captures. One of their early press releases stated that the largest Conquest map would be something like 3 large Onslaught maps laid end to end. Another press release stated that they were trying to have the terrain change depending on which side had control of the surrounding territory.

For those who play WoW, think of it as Alterac Valley, but better.

I'm really bummed that they are doing away with the tried and true AS gametype. Part of the reason why I almost exclusively play UT is that AS creates the feeling of 'squad-like' gameplay while still keeping the pace at the frenetic UT standard.

Engine Overhaul?? Isn't that what was done? Because as far as I know....UT2004 doesn't use the latest Unreal Engine :smt120

It goes something like this.....
UT99 \ Unreal = Engine 1.0
UT2003 = Engine 2.0
UT2004 \ Unreal 2 = Engine 2.5
UT2007 = Engine 3.0

Question: so why is it that UT2004's UEd says 3.0 while starting up? :smt017

I'm going to assume that its the 3.0 version of the editor (2.0 would be 2k3) and using only Unreal Engine 2. Or 2.5, whatever.

The next UEd would probably be version 4.0.
