Question Windows issues

Not sure if others have ran into this.

I run UT2k4 through steam.
Did a windows update on my laptop last night, and when I restarted I got a CD key error, so reinstalled the game.
And I now it seems I can't play online - the game has these weird render issues when I join a server where I can't bring up the game menu, and a lot of the textures aren't rendered. Example image attached. Core health isn't showing, the node list is static, and a lot of the vehicles don't completely render.

I tried booting it on my newer desktop which had an issue on online where it wouldn't recognize mouse clicks - kinda important for an FPS game.

Has anyone run into this before? Another with issues with Windows?

I can't see the image that you have attached, but try reinstalling the game directly under your drive's path and without any breaks (like C:\UnrealTournament2004). Make sure it's not installed under Program Files. This was the source of some CD key error I got after switching to Win10.

Do you experience the same issues in offline play?

Yes, many programs HATE the space in the directory name.

Also, have you looked at your User.ini and UT2004.ini files? Its almost a necessity to back them up, especially if you've customized them with custom resolutions, keybinds etc. Occasionally UT will crash and wreck those files.

I guess it could also be a driver issue after the update. See if there is a new one for your GPU.

Thank you for the help all!!!

I moved the steam install location to C: without spaces, reinstalled the game, and updated my driver. Seems to be working now on my desktop PC.

Happy to finally be playing on something that couldn't pass off as a sack of potatoes.
