ONS-Barracks-2017
 
After some interest from the group I put some time into an edit of Barracks. It just passed TWC.

Thanks to Terminator and Flacis for helping test everything.
Thanks to WMD for testing it and Carpe for getting it on the server.

Here are the updates:
ONS-Barracks-2017 Change Log:
Previous Version: ONS-Barracks-{KL}-BigAl-V1

Changes from previous version:
Reduced the size of the core building and made it more accessible. Added a bunch of meshes and lighting in the cores
Skybox changed to night time
Vehicle Loadout Change (detail below)
Many new player starts added
New ONS Specials Nodes
Weapon loadout changed across the board
Node Layout Change (screenshot provided)
-Added 2 nodes to top platforms and reconfigured chimney exit from center node
-New platforms added to connect new nodes
-Added some Minigun turrets in the above middle
-New platform on the chimney outside 11
-Battery Avril added at node 11 (Center Node) only on the platform outside. You have to control the node to get the Battery. This battery takes multiple hits to take down the Pally shield
-Added an Ion Painter near the 11 platform
Cave nodes (12/13) are freestanding nodes that can be controlled by either team to supply vehicles. They are never locked
Added more trees to the ledge outside the core
Added Fog in the tunnel between the middle and core area
Elevated middle side nodes and added teleports and jump pads to get around in the are. Also added jumpads to get to the center platform in the map and the top node area
Added the Vortex gun to the map, hidden. There are 2 and it is mostly symmetrical. It is not in the core
Various changes to outside meshes to support jump pads, new nodes and weapons

OK, so I dl'ed it, and put the respective files into their folders on my iMac, but when I go to open the 'instant action' I can't find the ONS-Barracks in my list? IDK what gives.

You could be missing a file, though since you play Omni all the time that is odd.

Do cached files get used when a game is being played locally? Never thought about that.

Either use UTDeps: http://www.p-fat.net/ found ur missing files and than use utCacheManager https://www.utzone.de/forum/download...do=file&id=826 to extract them from ur cache, or open the map in the ut2004editor and post a picture from the missing files or use the cacheManager.

Sorry Miauz, I forgot to say that I'm on an iMac. Although, they may be great tools, they are rather without mac support.

Try starting a game in instant action and then using "switchlevel ONS-Mapname".

Do you have a file called eons-scorpion_beta3? That's the one that was missing for me.

Those columns around the map are set to high detail which is why they don't show up in lower gfx settings.

Not sure which columns you mean. There are some pipes on the wall set that way...?

Back when you would play with low GFX settings did you ever run into something invisible when you where leaving the base area? Right at the top of the ramp? Right about where that column or pipe or whatever it is is at? It took me a long time to realize there was something there that I had to turn my gfx up to high to see. I'm pretty sure it's still set that way. They really are the opposite of the kind of meshes someone would want to put on high detail only. A big column should probably always be visible. Some little deco item maybe not. Select one column then select all matching static meshes then bring up properties for all and under Advanced is bHighDetail.

I don't like it either, but made no change to any previously placed meshs detail level.

If you know how to fix this I would love to learn.

Those meshes have been like since I first played Barracks. Back when I would play on my old laptop I opened the map up in the editor to see what this invisible thing was I was running into. It's no biggy. I was just mentioning it in case you do another edit soon. There are probably still some people playing without the world detail on high.

I don't know how to fix the fade thing on a nighttime skybox. I think I've seen it done or maybe done it myself but I don't remember where. Maybe look at some of the stock maps and see if there any nighttime ones with cliffs around the edge. MTMU Nightwolf has the same thing going on.

Cull Distances on those meshes are more than twice the fog distance and have nothing to do with what I'm talking about.
